Ruby Moon named Favourite Caterer for 2009 by The Chronicle Journal People's Choice Awards!!

Who couldn’t help see the billboards several years ago on Fort William Road that announced, “ I Eat on the Moon so can you” to the community of Thunder Bay? This tag line invented by entrepreneur Lori Paras, owner of Ruby Moon, initiated the beginning of a four-year culinary adventure serving lunch and catering services to clients in Thunder Bay. “ A recent move and expansion of Ruby Moon was based on our customer feedback” Paras said, “ They wanted to have a Ruby Moon experience on weekends and also come for dinner. “

Ruby Moon has responded to this request and has introduced weekly promotions such as Date night Wednesdays where two can dine for $50, Matchmaker Thursdays where you just might find that someone special, Friday and Saturday Lunch Live featuring homegrown local and regional musicians (no cover charge), and Sultry Sangria Saturday. To top it off add a traditional roast beef dinner just like Grandma used to make it on Sunday....... and yes it includes homemade Apple Pie.

Paras says, “ We endeavor to create an oasis outside the office, where professionals can enjoy a healthy meal within the constraints of hectic everyday schedules. We provide a unique menu designed by leading chefs, made fresh daily for an ever growing pool of regular and repeat clientele. For those with more time we offer a relaxing eclectic environment with access to wireless Internet for themselves and their family.”

Ruby Moon offers catered events in office and boardroom environments and are created to suit the unique demands of many organizations. In co-operation with local businesses, we strive to design custom menus that suit a wide spectrum of budgets, while delivering exceptional service and presentation that reflects the professionalism of our clients.

Ruby Moon is also committed to the Greening Efforts within the community and region. The restaurant was built and furnished using second hand building supplies and fixtures from Habitat for Humanity and other sources. We recycle all glass, plastic, paper products and cans. We also use fabric tablecloths and napkins to help reduce the use of paper products.

Ruby Moon supports local fundraising initiatives such as the “Food for the Soul” in conjunction with the Thunder Bay Symphony and actively fundraises through an on site wishing well for the Clothing Assistance Mission of Thunder Bay.

Empty Bowls Caring Hearts, held in co-operation with the Lakehead Unitarian Fellowship, has seen our homemade soup raise needed funding for the Shelter House and the Thunder Bay Food Bank. We continue to participate in this worthwhile endeavour.

Ruby Moon has moved to 10 South Court Street and has not only expanded the capacity of the restaurant but the hours of operation and services. “We are now open seven days a week serving lunch, supper and have a full bar service. We will continue to be as eco-friendly as possible. We do not have any deep fryers on premises and we cook from scratch! “ Says owner Lori Paras. “ Our Chefs Dan Bruce, Ryan Morris and Michael Gibbons have extensive portfolios and the dinner menu they have created is really exciting”.
